Relaxing Exercises
The Five Relaxing Exercises were developed by Master Huang with the intent to provide the students with a systematic structure to bring the taiji principles into the body. The repetitive nature of the movements allows the time and space for the student to constantly refine their practice.
We always learn the Relaxing Exercises first as they give us the foundation for the rest of the system. Even as a "developed" practitioner we can not afford to overlook them and must continue to work to refine them. How we move in the Relaxing Exercises will translate directly how we move in the Form and Partner Work.

No1 Relaxing Exercise
In this Instructional Video we will learn the basic physical movements of the No1 Relaxing Exercise as well as introducing the taiji principles within the sequence of movement. Principles emphasized will include "all movement originating from the base" and "the hips turn the waist, the waist turns the body".Suitable for all levels. The video is in downloadable wmv format. No2 Relaxing Exercise
In this Instructional video we will learn the basic physical movements of the No2 Relaxing Exercise as well as introducing the taiji principles within the sequence of movement. No3 Relaxing Exercise
In this Instructional Video we will learn the basic physical movements of the No3 Relaxing Exercise as well as introducing the taiji principles within the sequence of movement. Principles emphasized will include the "cross alignment sychronisation" and how that relates to the principle of "substantial and insubstantiality" as well as "turning around the central axis like a millstone".Suitable for all levels. No4 Relaxing Exercise
In this Instructional Video we will learn the basic physical movements of the No4 Relaxing Exercise as well as introducing the taiji principles within the sequence of movement. Principles emphasized will include "opening and closing from the central axis" and "the arms can only move if there is a continual letting go in the base", also learning "how to release". No5 Relaxing Exercise
In this Instructional Video we will learn the basic physical movements of the No5 Relaxing Exercise as well as introducing the taiji principles within the sequence of movement. Principles emphasized will include "all movements are initiated from the base" whilst learning how to move forward and backwards with connected sinking.
